Yesterday was World Lizard Day. It was founded in 2009 and August 14th is now the day of the lizard.
In their honor took a walk in the back yard and captured a few pics. It was fun and I was delighted at how many were out and about. See pics below.
We are fortunate to have these remarkable reptiles living with us on our islands. These adaptable creatures, from the color-shifting chameleons to the agile geckos, contribute significantly to various ecosystems.
Lizards help control insect populations and act as indicators of environmental health. This day encourages understanding and appreciation for these often-misunderstood animals. It serves as a reminder of their vital role in maintaining the delicate balance of nature.
Through awareness and conservation efforts, World Lizard Day promotes a greater sense of responsibility toward preserving these unique and diverse species for generations to come.
